Veljko Birmančević has made a significant addition to Getafe during the winter transfer market. The Serbian player will don the number 20 jersey and was officially introduced to the media, where he discussed the circumstances surrounding his arrival, his impressions of coach José Bordalás, and the significance of playing in LaLiga.

In terms of his name, he remarked, “You can call me Birma, as Birmančević is a bit challenging to pronounce. Regarding my injury, I faced some physical issues, but I resolved them three weeks ago. I am now fully recovered and ready for the next match.”

Discussing his playing style, Birmančević stated, “I prefer to play with intensity, covering the field from box to box. My greatest strength lies in finding space behind the defense to create challenges for the central defenders. I also enjoy scoring goals and providing assists; that’s why I’m here. I am eager to start competing in this league.”

On his relationship with Bordalás, he noted, “I was already familiar with the coach because I have been following LaLiga for many years. I understood how Getafe plays: with great discipline and as a very compact team. I am well-acquainted with his style of play. Additionally, I spoke with Maksimović, who shared insights about the manager. Everything has been very positive; I know exactly what he expects from me and am familiar with the fundamental concepts of his methodology.”

Regarding Paunović, Birmančević commented, “Everyone knows that Paunović played here and is a legend in Spain. I spoke with him once during a national team call-up, although I do not know him well beyond that conversation. As for my signing, it has always been my dream to play in LaLiga. I received a call on the last day of the transfer window because the club needed a player in my position. The clubs reached an agreement, and I accepted immediately. I wanted to take a step forward in my career and play in one of the best leagues in the world; this is a significant advancement for my professional journey.”

In his message to the fans, he emphasized, “It’s simple. In every team and with every coach I’ve had, my style has always been well-received because I play with a lot of intensity and fight for the team, my teammates, and the club. I always give my all, in addition to contributing my individual qualities, such as scoring and assisting. I promise to give my maximum in every training session and in every match. That fighting mentality is in my blood.”
