VfB Stuttgart Eyes Grischa Pr mel for Summer TransferVfB Stuttgart Eyes Grischa Pr mel for Summer Transfer

Sky Germany reports that VfB Stuttgart is showing interest in Hoffenheim midfielder Grischa Prömel, who will be available on a free transfer this summer.

The Swabians have reportedly initiated discussions with the 31-year-old regarding a potential move, but they will face competition from various Bundesliga clubs as well as teams from abroad.

Hoffenheim is also keen on extending Prömel’s contract and has been in negotiations for a new deal; however, these talks have now been suspended.

Born in Bad Cannstatt, a district of Stuttgart, Prömel did not have the opportunity to play for VfB, having come through the academies of Stuttgarter Kickers, Hoffenheim, and Karlsruher before moving to Union Berlin and later returning to Sinsheim in 2022.

This season has been one of his best, as he has scored five goals and provided two assists in 16 Bundesliga appearances for Christian Ilzer’s team. His time at Hoffenheim has been marred by two significant injuries—an ankle fracture in his first season and an ACL tear the following season.

If Prömel decides to return to his hometown, he could serve as an upgrade over Atakan Karazor, who has shown vulnerability at times. Additionally, summer signing Chema Andres has demonstrated that he can enhance the midfield over the Turkish international, while Nikolas Nartey has also showcased potential at the MHP Arena.

Notably, Prömel would not be the first midfielder to transition from Hoffenheim to Stuttgart under coach Sebastian Hoeneß; Angelo Stiller successfully made this move and has quickly become a fan favorite.
