VfL Bochum has officially announced the signing of midfielder Moritz Göttlicher from Bayern Munich’s U19 team. This transfer marks a permanent departure from the German record champions, with Bayern having recently finalized two loan deals for other prospects from their youth academy.

Despite being overshadowed by more prominent former teammates such as Wisdom Mike and Lennart Karl, Göttlicher has yet to break into professional football. Nonetheless, Bochum has evidently taken notice of his potential, agreeing to a modest transfer fee and securing him with a long-term contract.

This season, Göttlicher has showcased his talent by scoring five goals and providing two assists in just 11 appearances for Bayern’s U19 squad. His new contract with Bochum will keep him at the club until 2031, making it the longest current contract held by any player in the 2. Bundesliga.

Expressing his excitement about the move, Göttlicher stated, “When I heard about VfL’s interest, I was very happy because I realized that young players get playing time here in Bochum. I think this is the right step to take to get into professional football, and it’s great that it worked out so quickly. I’m very happy to be here.”
