Villarreal Secures Alfonso González on Loan from Sevilla

omidbasir- Villarreal has officially confirmed the acquisition of Alfonso González, known as Alfon, who will join the club on loan from Sevilla. The deal includes an option to purchase the player for €7 million.

Alfon’s arrival addresses the void left by the departures of players such as Manor Solomon and Illias Akhomach, particularly the latter. He is set to complement Alberto Moleiro on the left flank, a strategic request from coach Marcelino, as Moleiro was the only specialist left in that position following the exit of the Israeli international.

In a press conference held in Leverkusen during the Champions League announcement, the Asturian coach commented on the new signing: “This opportunity arose for us to bring in a Spanish player whom we know well, which will facilitate his immediate adaptation. Earlier today, I had a brief moment to greet him. He will be an asset to us in this crucial phase of the competition.”

Alfon joined Sevilla last summer after an impressive season at Celta, which had already attracted Villarreal’s attention. However, injuries have hindered his progress at the Seville club, where he has only participated in 10 matches. Now, Sevilla sees this loan as a way to alleviate financial burdens and strengthen their squad as the season nears its conclusion.

Moreover, Alfon will not be the only reinforcement for Villarreal in this transfer window. As previously reported by MARCA, American defender Alex Freeman is set to be the next addition.

Villarreal is finalizing the signing of Freeman from Orlando for a base fee of €3.2 million, plus an additional €2 million in performance-related variables linked to individual and team achievements.
