Vojvoda Addresses Neymar s Reaction to SubstitutionVojvoda Addresses Neymar s Reaction to Substitution

Santos coach Juan Pablo Vojvoda addressed Neymar’s frustrated reaction following his substitution in the league match against Flamengo, describing it as a typical response from any player.

In the match, Neymar started but was replaced in the 85th minute with his team trailing 3-0. As he exited the pitch, he expressed his discontent with Vojvoda’s decision before heading directly to the locker room, foregoing the option to sit on the bench for the remaining minutes.

Vojvoda commented, “It’s understandable that Neymar felt upset, as any player would in that situation. Ultimately, I make the decisions regarding substitutions.” He acknowledged Neymar’s feelings: “I find his reaction completely normal. He wasn’t disrespectful; the respect remains intact. Players are eager to contribute, especially during challenging times for the club.”

Santos, currently positioned just above the relegation zone, managed to score two late goals after Neymar’s departure, but it was insufficient to secure a positive result.

At 33 years old, Neymar recently made his return from a 48-day hiatus due to a muscular injury and has netted three goals in 15 league appearances for Santos. According to sources from ESPN Brazil, Neymar has indicated plans to leave the club should they face relegation.
