Jorgen Strand Larsen made a significant impact last season, scoring 14 goals and aiding Wolves in securing a 16th place finish in the Premier League.

However, West Ham’s interest in the Norwegian forward has waned after learning that Wolves are demanding £40 million for the 25-year-old. The Hammers remain committed to enhancing Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad with additional striking options.

Initially, Larsen was a top target for West Ham, and Wolves’ manager Rob Edwards did not dismiss the possibility of the forward departing Molineux next month following the recent 1-1 draw against Manchester United.

Despite this, West Ham believes the price set by Wolves for Strand Larsen, who signed a new contract extending to 2030 in September, is excessive. As a result, the club is now evaluating alternative options, although it is possible that their interest could be rekindled in the future.

Newcastle United previously had bids of £50 million and £55 million rejected in the summer. Nonetheless, Wolves are now experiencing a challenging season, which appears to be heading toward potential relegation back to the Championship.

“We will make the right decision regarding each individual,” said Edwards. “Only time will tell. It will be a club decision, and I am sure there will be movements in and out as we aim to make an impact this month.”

Meanwhile, following their recent 2-2 draw with Brighton, West Ham has narrowed the gap to four points from the fourth-from-bottom Nottingham Forest. They are now exploring other candidates, with Crystal Palace striker Eddie Nketiah reportedly on their radar.

Nketiah has netted four goals in 19 appearances for Palace this season, but has only started twice in the Premier League, with his last appearance being a 4-1 loss at Leeds on December 20.
