omidbasir- Willem van Hanegem has expressed concerns regarding Feyenoord’s ability to maintain their second place in the Eredivisie. He observed that the Rotterdam team did not demonstrate convincing performance against Heracles Almelo, the league’s bottom team. Van Hanegem finds it difficult to understand why Robin van Persie appears to have a more optimistic view of the situation. He believes that Ajax could potentially surpass Feyenoord as early as this coming Sunday.

In his column for Algemeen Dagblad, Van Hanegem voiced his apprehension that Feyenoord might indeed lose their second place. He stated, “It is becoming increasingly clear that keeping Ajax at bay will be a substantial challenge for Feyenoord.” He anticipates that Ajax will secure a victory against Excelsior while Feyenoord faces PSV. Though Van Hanegem acknowledges that PSV is not invincible, he is concerned that Feyenoord currently lacks the form necessary to seize the opportunity.

Heracles managed to score twice against Feyenoord, and Van Hanegem is perplexed by Van Persie’s nonchalance regarding this outcome. He remarked, “The coach claims they hardly conceded any chances, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.” Nevertheless, he noted that Oussama Targhalline made a strong impression, although he received an abundance of space on the field. “It was illogical; if Targhalline is given that much room, he can perform exceptionally well. That level of play is what Feyenoord needs to defend their second place.”
