Wim Kieft Advocates for Ajax’s Signing of Oleksandr Zinchenko

Wim Kieft believes Ajax made a wise decision by signing Oleksandr Zinchenko. However, the former striker acknowledges that challenges remain, suggesting there are still areas for improvement. With the addition of the Ukrainian player, Kieft asserts that Ajax is poised to make progress.

In an interview with De Telegraaf, Kieft emphasized that Zinchenko, at 29 years old, is an impressive player who brings substantial experience from his time with clubs such as Manchester City, PSV, Arsenal, and Nottingham Forest. He views this acquisition as a ‘necessary reinforcement,’ particularly in light of Owen Wijndal’s underwhelming performance.

Kieft also recognizes some advantages in Wijndal’s play, especially in his ball possession skills. He noted, “Wijndal covers the entire flank and his output is more favorable compared to that of Wijndal. Though Denzel Dumfries operates at a higher level than Gaaei, they fulfill similar roles. This could lead to the Dane making a significant transfer, as many clubs are in search of a player who can excel in the right-back position.”
