Wolfsburg s Pursuit of Raphael Onyedika Falls ShortWolfsburg s Pursuit of Raphael Onyedika Falls Short

Sky Germany reports that Wolfsburg’s efforts to acquire Raphael Onyedika, the midfielder from Club Brugge, have unfortunately not come to fruition.

The Bundesliga club had been actively pursuing the Nigerian player for several weeks to enhance their midfield capabilities. However, Onyedika has now opted to remain in Belgium for the remainder of the season, with his current contract at Brugge set to expire in 2027. Eintracht Frankfurt has also shown interest in the 24-year-old, and given their defensive challenges, they may be in a better position to finalize a deal.

This setback marks the third unsuccessful attempt by Wolfsburg to strengthen their roster during this transfer window. Previously, they sought to bolster their defense by attempting to sign Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeanuel Belocian on loan and making a €16 million offer for Genk’s center-back Matte Smets, which was subsequently rejected.

On the field, Daniel Bauer’s team is in a tight race to avoid relegation, currently sitting just one point above the bottom three.
