Wrexham and Sheffield United kicked off with remarkable intensity, as five goals found the net within the first thirty minutes, providing fans with an exhilarating clash in north-east Wales.

The visitors took the lead with a brilliant goal from Patrick Bamford, who expertly flicked the ball into the net with the outside of his left boot, leaving goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo no chance and momentarily silencing the home crowd. However, the advantage for United was short-lived; just over a minute later, Wrexham equalized. George Thomason delivered a dangerous cross from the left, which was mishandled by defender Tyler Bindon, resulting in an own goal.

Bamford quickly reestablished Sheffield United’s lead as he skillfully converted a second opportunity from Femi Seriki’s cross, showcasing his finishing prowess with two goals from his first two touches in the penalty area. Yet, Wrexham’s striker, Moore, would soon play a pivotal role in the match’s progression. Following a long throw-in, Moore inadvertently redirected the ball into his own six-yard box, allowing Callum O’Hare to head home and extend United’s lead to 3-1.

Despite the setback, Moore redeemed himself by powering a header from Thomason’s corner, narrowing the deficit before halftime. The first half concluded with Wrexham trailing by just one goal after a series of near-misses, including a shot from Bamford being saved and a handball appeal for Ollie Arblaster dismissed by the offside flag.

The second half saw Wrexham equalize for the second time just six minutes in. Ryan Longman capitalized on a lapse in defensive concentration from Sam McCallum, finishing strongly past Michael Cooper with a header. As the pressure mounted, Windass had a shot saved, Gustavo Hamer’s free-kick was tipped wide, and Nathan Broadhead’s effort was cleared off the line by Arblaster.

Wrexham eventually capitalized on their sustained pressure when Moore was played through by Broadhead and scored with a powerful shot to give Wrexham their first lead of the match with less than fifteen minutes remaining. Windass secured the victory for Wrexham by confidently converting a penalty following a foul by Bindon.

In stoppage time, Tyrese Campbell nearly added to the excitement with a shot that struck the underside of the crossbar. Wrexham celebrated a well-deserved three points, marking an unforgettable comeback at the Racecourse.

Moore stood out with a match-winning brace, bouncing back from his earlier error and increasing his tally to 12 goals for the season since joining Wrexham. Also noteworthy was Thomason, who, despite playing out of position as a left wing-back, contributed significantly with two assists and won the decisive penalty.

On the other hand, Sheffield United’s Bindon faced a challenging day, scoring an own goal early on and conceding the late penalty. Additionally, McCallum’s mistakes contributed to Wrexham’s goals, leaving manager Chris Wilder to reflect on what could have been a different outcome.
