Zak Vyner Joins Wrexham A New Chapter BeginsZak Vyner Joins Wrexham A New Chapter Begins

Zak Vyner, who was omitted from Bristol City’s matchday squad during their 5-0 defeat to Derby County at Ashton Gate, has officially signed with Wrexham. In a statement on the club’s official website, he expressed his excitement: “I’m over the moon. Wrexham’s ambition and the project that is already well underway – the consecutive promotions – is something you can’t help but admire from a distance, and now that I’m involved, I can’t wait to contribute.”

The 28-year-old has a contract with Wrexham that includes a one-year extension option. He believes his experience and skills will help elevate Phil Parkinson’s team to new heights. “I know a few of the lads, and I’m aware of the squad’s capabilities. For me, it’s about demonstrating leadership and leveraging my attributes, along with the knowledge I’ve gained over the past decade, to enhance an already strong squad,” he remarked.

Last week, Wrexham’s manager, Phil Parkinson, approved Conor Coady’s loan move to Charlton, creating space for Vyner’s arrival. Parkinson highlighted Vyner’s versatility, stating, “Zak’s a really good Championship player who can play across the back three and in midfield. With Conor’s departure to Charlton and Zak’s contract situation, we’ve been in discussions with Bristol City for some time. We believe he’s a valuable addition to our team.”

Vyner made his senior debut for Bristol City in February 2016 and accumulated a total of 264 appearances for the club. His previous loan spells include time at Accrington Stanley, Plymouth Argyle, Rotherham United, and Aberdeen. Parkinson mentioned that Vyner had been on Wrexham’s radar for quite a while, stating, “We’ve monitored his progress and attempted to sign him last summer. He’s a fantastic addition to our group.”

While Bristol City currently sits ninth in the Championship table, just four points ahead of Wrexham in the race for the final playoff spot, Vyner is poised to make his debut when the Red Dragons, co-owned by Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, face Millwall in their next league match on February 7.
