Zubimendi joined Arsenal this summer from Real Sociedad in a deal valued at approximately £60 million (€70 million/$83 million). The Spanish international is part of a strong wave of new signings, which includes Eberechi Eze, Noni Madueke, Christian Norgaard, Cristhian Mosquera, Piero Hincapie, and Viktor Gyokeres, aimed at enhancing Arsenal’s pursuit of silverware in the 2025-26 season.

Since his arrival, Zubimendi has made 33 appearances for Mikel Arteta’s squad, contributing five goals and three assists, playing a key role in propelling the Gunners to the top of the Premier League. Furthermore, Arsenal has excelled in various competitions, finishing first in their Champions League group, advancing to the final of the Carabao Cup, and reaching the fourth round of the FA Cup.

While Arsenal enjoys a successful season, Real Madrid has faced challenges, leading to speculation about Zubimendi’s potential fit with Los Blancos. When questioned about it, Zubimendi responded firmly, stating, “I don’t think so. Real Madrid has more than enough players to do well, so no.”

He also addressed Arsenal’s aspirations for silverware, particularly after their recent victory over Chelsea in the Carabao Cup semi-finals, saying, “We have taken the first step, but we are aware that there are three very important months ahead. This is about winning it. The standings are great, but we will see who wins.”

After the match against Chelsea, Zubimendi expressed his satisfaction with his adaptation to life at the Emirates: “When you feel important and you are playing, it is truly comforting. It’s true that I’ve adapted well to the league, but I’ve noticed that the matches are very demanding, with everyone putting you under pressure, and the level is very high.”

Arteta has consistently lauded Zubimendi’s performances this season, especially following his goal in the Carabao Cup semi-final against Chelsea. He remarked, “When we talk about Zubi, what else can he do? He can do whatever he wants. He’s exceptional at occupying different spaces and is highly skilled in dribbling, winning duels, and maintaining composure in the final third. His performance was phenomenal.”

As Arsenal continues to compete on all fronts, Arteta expressed his delight at reaching the Carabao Cup final against either Newcastle or Manchester City, stating, “We are so happy. Overall, we deserved to progress. It was a tough match against a great opponent, and we’re heading to Wembley.”

The Gunners will now redirect their focus to the Premier League, with a crucial match against Sunderland scheduled for Saturday.
